Juliet Fleming Stage was born in Normal, Illinois and attended elementary and high school in Rural West central Illinois. She graduated from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale in 1985 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Paralegal Studies and a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology, where she was regularly on the Dean’s list. While pursuing her degrees at Southern Illinois University, Juliet performed an internship with Morgan County Circuit Court Judge Gordon D. Seator in Jacksonville, Illinois.
Juliet moved to Florida immediately after graduation and worked as a paralegal for two insurance defense firms where she assisted in the handling of workers compensation and insurance defense cases.
In 1990, Juliet attended Cumberland School of Law at Samford University and was on the Client Counseling Team and competed in state and national Client Counseling competitions. She also engaged in trial court competitions during her tenure at Cumberland. In 1992, Juliet performed an internship with the US Attorney’s Office in Birmingham handling civil and criminal RICOH cases, Bankruptcy issues and Federal Tort Claims Act cases. Throughout law school and during her summers, she worked for a Central Florida firm assisting with the handling of PIP matters, insurance coverage issues, workers compensation issues and family law matters.
Juliet graduated from Cumberland in 1993 and returned to Florida where she worked for a year as an Assistant State Attorney in the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Florida in St. Augustine. She won her first jury trial under her third year practice card in 1993. She was admitted to the bar shortly thereafter and worked handling misdemeanor trials and conducting First Appearances in St. Johns County.
In 1994, Juliet returned to Birmingham, Alabama where she worked as house counsel for State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company. She became a member of the Alabama State and Federal Bar for the Middle District in 1994 and tried over 50 bench and jury trials during her 4 years in Alabama. In 1998, Juliet transferred with State Farm to Orlando, Florida where she continued her employment until 1999.
In 1999, Juliet began working for Allstate Insurance Company in Daytona Beach, successfully trying and winning 5 jury trials her first year with the company. She continued working for Allstate until 2002. For the past 10 years she has worked for two local insurance defense firms handling premises liability, auto liability, construction liability and coverage issues.
She is a member of the Florida State Bar, the Alabama State Bar, the Volusia County Bar, and the Federal Bars for the Middle District of Florida and the Middle District of Alabama.
Juliet specializes in civil trial law, primarily in the insurance defense realm, concentrating in premises liability, automobile liability, uninsured motorist, construction and commercial liability.
She has been a guest speaker at several insurance companies for Continuing Education Seminars addressing changes in Joint and Several liability and changes in the premises liability law.
Juliet has two children, Elizabeth, age 12 and Nicholas, age 10 and resides with her children in Deland, Florida. Her outside interests include scuba diving, swimming, racquetball, outdoor sports and bicycling.
